Annual Reports

Every state in the United States requires a filing of periodic reports by registered commercial entities listing individuals in charge of managing these entities, as well as the location of the in-state operations and a local registered Agent. In most cases, this is a simple mandatory requirement.

Why is it required?

When someone wants to find managers of a company for activities such as lawsuits, levies, confirmation of existence for banking purposes, insurance documents, and all kinds of legal activities, the Annual Report is the publicly available source of this information.  It is strictly regulated and is very regimented to ensure accuracy and compliance.

How much does it cost to file?

Every state has a unique method of filing and charging for annual reports, ranging from $70 in California to a percentage of the Cost of Assets or Value of Equity in Delaware.  The cost in most cases is not significant, but a filing is mandatory.
